Debra Carroll Solicitor

I qualified in 1987 and joined J W Hughes and co in May 2001. I have over 30 years’ experience in a broad range of areas but now primarily specialise in family matters.

This covers every aspect of family life, from relationship breakdown between married or unmarried couples, and all the issues which follow in terms of resolving disputes concerning finance and arrangements for children.

Many clients are tuned into the importance of early advice, a lot of heartache and expense can be saved with a well drafted Will, Pre-nuptial or Cohabitation Agreement. I have experience in drafting such documents as well as traditional family pleadings.

I pride myself on being approachable and have good working relationships with other advocates and court users. I am an accredited member of the Law Society’s Children panel for my expertise and experience to undertake Public Law work.

Public Law cases can be the most challenging especially when the Local Authorities have invoked child protection procedures and may be trying to remove children from their home or in some cases place them for adoption.  Following amendments to the law in 2014 these cases must be concluded within 26 weeks save in exceptional circumstances which is why it is essential you instruct the right Solicitor. I have represented parents, other family members (such as grandparents) and children.

I have been a director/Trustee of Aberconwy domestic abuse service since 2004.
