New data from Rightmove shows a record number of sellers listing properties on Boxing Day 2025, surpassing the previous Boxing Day record. Boxing Day is always a popular day for visits to Rightmove, the property website, but this winter, visits increased by 93% between Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
Additionally, enquiries to estate agents for viewings rose by 67% in the five days after Christmas. The number of new properties listed on Rightmove more than doubled in the five days after Christmas compared with the five days before, as sellers took advantage of increased buyer activity, with the most popular homes listed being smaller properties attractive to first-time buyers.
Steve Pimblett, Rightmove’s chief data officer, said that the record-breaking visitor numbers may indicate that many are looking to put some of the uncertainty of last year behind them and get going with a move in 2026.
