Our Goal

Our goal is to obtain an agreement through negotiations. In most cases, agreements can be reached between separating couples, made legally binding by a Consent Order, which is usually less costly than going through the court process.

However, we know this is not possible in all cases and, therefore, it may be necessary to ask the Court for assistance and enter into a more formal process. When you cannot agree, the Court will be asked to consider all the circumstances and decide how the assets should be divided. The Court will always consider any children of the family first and then other factors, such as the financial resources available to the parties, the standard of living, the age of the parties, and the length of the marriage.
