Our Fees

Our solicitors operate on an hourly rate. Each solicitor is graded according to their experience after qualification. Grade A being the most experienced to grade D being the least, with the exception of Family Law where all fee earners are on a fixed rate. 

How are my fees calculated?

Work on a file will be costed regularly to keep our clients informed of costs at all times. All solicitors record their time spent with you and/or on the file in the following format:

Attendance – time spent with you either in person or on the telephone and time spent preparing and working on the file.
Telephone calls – calls made or received on the matter. 
Correspondence – letters we draft and send out on your behalf and correspondence we receive  (including emails, texts, etc).

Clients can contact us at any time for an update on their costs. 

Estimates

At the outset of your case, your solicitor will provide a cost estimate. It is difficult to give a completely accurate cost estimate as no two cases are ever the same especially if your matter is contentious, unless, of course, it falls under our fixed-fee work where the price will not change. We will keep you abreast of any likely increase in the costs as soon as they become apparent during proceedings giving you control as to how to proceed. We will always endeavour to keep costs to a minimum. 

Some factors may increase costs that cannot be foreseen, such as family law contested cases where parties cannot agree, delays from the opposing side putting a halt on proceedings, or we may have to enforce an order. We are dealing with human interaction and emotions, and you cannot always predict how someone on the opposing side will act during proceedings. 

Other fees

Sometimes, it may be necessary to instruct an expert witness in a matter, for example, a pension actuary or a surveyor. You may need a barrister to represent you at court who will charge their own fee. In addition, there may be disbursements such as court fees or travel mileage, police disclosure fees, and process server fees.
